signage and multimodality
Christophe Tallec, Uinfoshare/ Utilisacteur, lead the workshop "signage and multimodality: complexity, standardization" from the thinking group "Pas de transports sans design" from Apci & MEDDTL, which involved Sylvain Jolivet (SNCF Design and Research cell ), Olivia Cruchet (RATP, heritage & design poject department), Pascale Fisher (formerly SAEMES SEM Parking France and now mobility mission SCET), Armand Teychené (Attoma, design service and transport), Mohammad Feroz (O-labs).
One common observation, signage incarnates the collaboration issues between transportation providers, a key for multimodality. The contemporary context of our mobility, which tends to multimodality, implies from one or several transport networks to increasingly take care of the user navigation in the offers and services provided (by one or more suppliers that may be different, creating a more complex layout).
The discussion focused on urban and dense contexts where the need is critical in terms of multimodality/
a definition of signage, in the context of multimodality :
Signage is designed and exists on several scales and materiality of a transport infrastructure, be it visual, sound, light, marking floor panel, architectural element, as the information system ... A system that transforms into a continuum of informational touchpoints from the user perspective and allows the commuter journey within the different networks, services.
